Who we are
LegacyGamers Network (LGN) is a fan-run Ragnarok Online community. We build free tools that make the game easier to install, patch and run, and we help people use them on our Discord.
LGN grew out of LegacyGamers, or LG, which LGKeiz (now CrazyBebop) started in 2004. Back then we ran private servers for GunZ, PangYa, Gunbound, Lineage II and MapleStory. The very first one, in 2003, was a Ragnarok Online server, so in a way we're back where we started.
What we build
-
WARPGATE
Our free Windows app for the Ragnarok Online client. It downloads from five mirrors at once, checks every file and keeps your install up to date.
-
WARP0716
Our open-source patch set for the 2025-07-16 client. The recommended profile gets you a working English client, and the guides walk you through the patches that need extra setup. On GitHub (opens in a new tab)
-
The function catalogs
Every function in two builds of the Ragnarok Online client, named and described. Useful if you're digging into the client or writing patches.
-
LGN Bot
Our Discord bot. Mention it with a Ragnarok Online question, or use /ro to look up items, monsters, skills, maps and quests.
-
Æsir Engine In development
A Ragnarok Online engine we're writing from scratch. It's not open to players yet.
What we stand for
- Free. WARPGATE, WARP0716 and the guides don't cost anything.
- Open where we can be. WARP0716 is open source (GPL-3.0), and the function catalogs are public.
- Built with players. Bug reports and pull requests come in through GitHub and Discord, and patches from the community ship in our updates.
Our history
How we got here, from a Ragnarok Online server in 2003 to today. We pieced it together from our own write-up and the old pages saved on the Internet Archive.
-
4ExRO
It started with Ragnarok Online. In 2003 LGKeiz ran 4ExRO, short for 4Ever Extreme Ragnarok Online. For a private server back then it did really well, with 500 to 1,000+ players online every day, and it was the first server of what became LegacyGamers.
-
LegacyGamers starts
LGKeiz started LegacyGamers, LG for short, as a home for private game servers, and registered legacygamers.net that November.
-
PangYa and Gunbound
By now the site was calling itself “Your Gaming Paradise”. In April we opened LegacyPangYa, a PangYa server, and posted notices in Portuguese for our Brazilian players. That summer we ran a Gunbound server too. By November we had a new forum, with 57 members.
-
LG GunZ
By January 2007 the front page was signing people up for LegacyGamers GunZ, which everyone called LGGunZ. It became our biggest project by far. We billed it as “the #1 Dedicated GunZ Private server known to date”, and 13 volunteer staff kept it running. The forum took off with it.
LG forum members, from the forum's own counters on pages saved by the Internet Archive. The forum had boards for World of Warcraft, anime, debates and fan clubs, people hung out in #LegacyGamers on IRC, and in-game events went up on the Events board. We also started LegacyL2, a Lineage II server, and by May 2008 it was running two servers.
LegacyGamers GunZ took up most of my teenage years, the server was my gem, my baby.

Goodbye to GunZ
In March 2008 we closed the GunZ server. The goodbye post thanked the players, the donors and the developers, and made a promise:
LegacyGamers will never end, we will continue hosting other games for you.
From the goodbye post, March 10, 2008 That May we opened LGMS, a MapleStory server. Its launch post called it “one of our brand new additions to the LegacyGamers Network”, the name we still use. LegacyGamers closed later that year, but people stayed in touch.

The reunion Discord
On July 22, 2017 we opened the LegacyGamers Discord as a reunion for old players. For a while the website just said “LegacyGamers Reunion Discord” and “Come join us”. It's the same Discord we use today.

LG GunZ comes back for Christmas
On Christmas Eve 2020 LG GunZ came back for a reunion event, sponsored by iGunZ. It had all the original LG content: the maps, the item sets, the interface, and 25 of the original music tracks you could switch with /nextsong.
I missed you all so much!
From the reunion announcement -
LegacyGamers Network
We started going by LegacyGamers Network, the name from 2008, and got a new winged-sword logo.
-
Back to Ragnarok Online
By March legacygamers.net was back up, with the line “Crafted for players who care”. Here's how the rest of the year went:
- WARP0716, our patch set for the 2025-07-16 client, gets its GitHub repo.
- WARPGATE launches.
- Seven community patches ship in WARP0716.
- warp.legacygamers.net goes live as the home of WARPGATE and WARP0716.
- We make our catalogs of every function in two Ragnarok Online client builds public.
- The new legacygamers.net goes live. You're on it.

Epilogue
What's next
We started with a Ragnarok Online server in 2003, and twenty-some years later we're a Ragnarok Online community again, in the same Discord our old players found each other in. There's more on the way, and you'll hear about it there first.
